I started this particular journey by trying to find something to do while Daniel was going to be working away from home for 4-6 weeks and would not be in a place I could visit. Someone suggested that I volunteer in a country somewhere, maybe Haiti. Well, that isn't as easy and you might think. "call your church" I thought. I am a Unitarian so doing something with the them would have been okay and they are very service oriented and have that sort of thing going on all the time but I haven't been really connected to the church in awhile. I also knew I couldn't just pick up the phone, call Port au Prince and ask if they need any help.
Who game me the next idea: to take a language immersion course? April, Sam, Loretta? After searching the internet for hours through the many, many possibilities I settled first on Spanish, then Costa Rica and last, CRLA which stands for Costa Rica Language Academy and is located in San Jose, CR.
As I prepare to leave on May 16, and while I'm there I'll try to be in touch with my friends and family with this blog... if I learn how to do it well enough before I leave. The school has computers and free internet so I'll also email.
Cool, I have never blogged before. Will definitely follow you along your journey - to Costa Rica and otherwise!
ReplyDeleteYour/our journeys can be compared to a patchwork quilt. Collect bits and pieces from various sources and sew it all up into a wonderful work of art that is Victoria. You go, girl
